Vision -vs- Friendship
Do you have a favorite TV show? Actually I have 3 oldies but goodies: MASH, Murder She Wrote and Designing Women. I was looking at an episode of MASH one day which reminded me so much of what could happen as God blesses us.
Radar O’Reilly, the company clerk and part of the non-commissioned crew, was promoted to an officer. He was so excited but immediately discovered how lonesome it can be when you have been elevated to a higher level. His non-commissioned buddies did not want to have anything to do with him. He had become one of THEM! He became so upset about his friends not liking him; that he asked to have his promotion taken away. He wanted to become like his friends again.
Now don’t get me wrong. Friendships are extremely important but you must realize everyone will not understand your vision. When God begins to answer your prayers please be aware everyone will not be able to rejoice with you. You will discover that some of your friends will fade away.
As you get closer and closer to what God has called you to do, the sharing of your vision becomes a selective process. By selective process, I mean you cannot share with people who do not have a clear understanding about vision. These are the people who talk much but produce little. These are the people who can tell you how to do what God has called you to do but are not doing much in their own lives. Are you getting a clearer picture?
Hook up with people of vision! God will bring people to you for a season to help you; but know that satan will bring people into your life to get you off of the path God has set forth for you. It is so important to stay focused on the things of God.
One of the most important things I have discovered is the vision God has given to you is not about you. It has not been given to make you rich or famous. God has given you this vision for His glory. His word says to “Go into all of the world and make disciples.” What He has given to you will come to pass if you remain obedient to His calling. Stop trying to figure out how God will cause it to happen just know He will. Zechariah says, “Not by power nor by might but by His Spirit.”
Prophetically speaking: Some of you are on the verge of seeing the manifestation of the vision God has given you. When it happens do not become like Radar O’Reilly. Stay focused on what God wants you to do!
