Steal My Show Lord!
One of my favorite Christian recording artists is TobyMac and on his newest CD, Eye On It, he has a couple of songs that I play over and over in my car with the volume turned up. One of the songs I truly love is “Steal My Show”. In this song he realizes that delays in life will force you to admit to your helplessness. Toby described being stranded at an airport while his fans were waiting for him. With humility he says to God, “Steal My Show” because it was quite obvious God had something to say to His people.
The more I listened, the more I began to cry out to God “Steal My Show Lord! You ask what show? Think about it. Your show is the gift God has given to you. Has God given to you a voice to sing His songs? Has He given to you His Words to put into a song? For some it may be going to hospitals to pray for the sick. For some it may be feeding the homeless. Do people like being around you? Are you a good cook? Do you like to share what you have with others? Are you doing everything you thought God wanted you to do? Have you become frustrated? Are you allowing God to Steal Your Show?
Here’s a thought!
We are ambassadors or representatives for Christ. What an important task God has given to us! We are speaking for Christ. According to Webster’s dictionary an ambassador is an authorized representative or messenger. What brought me to tears was the realization of how much God loves us. He loved us so much that He made Jesus Who knew no sin to become sin so that we can have a right relationship with Him. Jesus endured the pain and agony of dying on the Cross for all of us.
2 Corinthians 5:19-21(GOD’S WORD Translation)
19 In other words, God was using Christ to restore his relationship with humanity. He didn’t hold people’s faults against them, and he has given us this message of restored relationships to tell others. 20 Therefore, we are Christ’s representatives, and through us God is calling you. We beg you on behalf of Christ to become reunited with God. 21 God had Christ, who was sinless, take our sin so that we might receive God’s approval through him.
Since we are ambassadors for Christ then we must know that everything we say or do will have a lasting effect. God is using us to tell others about Him. How cool is that? I want everything that I do, say or write to be acceptable to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. When I think I have nothing left to write, that is when I can sit back with a huge smile and say “Steal My Show Lord!”
