WHY?

Have you ever asked WHY?

Have others ever asked you WHY?

If you answered “yes” to either question, keep reading.

A while ago I wrote an article entitled “Why Not?” which was based on a poster in my office. It is easy for you to respond with “why not” when someone says you can’t do something. What is one of the first questions you ask when life interferes with your plans? “WHY?” I may be writing to myself on this one but let me continue. The “why not” was the second part of that poster but the first part of that same poster had the following words:

Some people see things and say, “Why?”

Jeremiah 29:11: For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. (NLT)

If we believe that God’s love for us is so great and He does have a plan for us then why do we ask God “Why?”

When tragedy happens why do we ask God “Why?”

When God is silent why do we ask God “Why?”

When God is speaking why do we ask God “Why?”

When God reveals His plan for our life why do we ask God “Why?”

When our plans fall apart why do we ask God “Why?”

Some people see things and say, “Why?”

Jeremiah 29:11: For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. (NLT)

Is asking “why?” showing lack of faith? As a child I would always ask “why?” I’m sure you did as well. We asked because we did not understand or did not want to do what was asked.

Initially this article was going to be about “Perseverance” but that is not what God wanted me to write about. I asked “why?” What was God thinking? I went to one of my favorite authors for guidance, Ted Geisel, aka, Dr. Seuss. I went to the last sentence of the last page of his book entitled “Oh, the Thinks you can Think!” and this is what God wanted me to see: “Oh, the Thinks you can think up if only you try!

It is as simple as this. Stop asking “why?” so much and just give it a try. It is not about how much money you have or who you know or what you know. It is all about taking God at His Word and by faith giving it a try.

Prophetically Speaking!

It has been a long hard road but God is opening up the gates of opportunity. He already knows you can handle it so don’t ask “why?” but give it a try.
