Give Of Yourself

Aviary Photo_130800748785178785In a society where the media has convinced people that we must have the next best thing whether we need it or not, I am so grateful to God who has shown me that none of that is important. So what if you do not get the latest and greatest gadget? Will your life end without it? I think not!

Must we be reminded who gave it all for us?  Must we be reminded why?

John 3:16 (KJV)

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

I have made so many excuses for not doing something, I began to wonder what was wrong with me. Am I that busy? Is my life so consumed with stuff that I could not see past the “stuff”? I was struggling to get caught up with my studies but I was also using that as an excuse for not doing anything else.

But something happened! As I got quiet before the Lord I heard God tell me to give of myself.

We all have money and things to give but how often do we give ourselves to God? How often do we allow God to direct our paths?

John 3:16 (KJV)

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God loved us so much that He gave His Son for us.

I made a decision to give totally of myself for a week at my church for Vacation Bible Study. I was outside in the sweltering heat for five glorious days. The children who came were so excited. I could not help but think if I had not been obedient to God I would have missed so much.

There was a lot I could have been doing but that week is one I will never forget. I truly understand when you give of yourself God will take care of everything else.

Final words!

Forget about yourself and remember it is not about you but all about God.

Philippians 4:4-7 (NASB)

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Be outrageously blessed!
