Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG)

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me-watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Have you ever heard a song that you knew God was using to talk to you?  I’ve been listening to one song lately entitled “Free To Be Me” by Francesca Battistelli.  Whenever the song was played I could hear God saying to me “On My shoulders you are free to be who I have called you to be”.

This year I celebrate 8 years of a 150-pound weight loss but I also celebrate a new beginning in my life. As I was reading Matthew 11:28-30 in The Message Bible I knew God was confirming the fact that on His shoulders we are free to be who He has called us to be.

A while ago I wrote an article entitled “Leaving The Familiar“.  In it the Lord had me to write:  “Everyone has thoughts about leaving the familiar but you begin to question those thoughts.  God has a way of bringing us out of the familiar to complete His purpose…”  The article was later revised in September 2009 with major personal updates.

I finally realize now what God knew back then.  On His shoulders I am free to be me.  I am not the same person I was 8 years ago and neither are you.

Only through God are we truly free to be who He has called us to be.

Only through God are we truly free to do what He has called us to do.

Only God knows my future but in Him I am free to be me!

Final words:

Prioritize your life always placing God first!

Make YOU a priority.

Take the time to enjoy life.

Take time out for yourself.

Take care of yourself.

Know that with God ALL things are possible!
