Blaze the Trail – My Tribute to Dr. Sarah Hurd
I dedicate this month’s article to my friend Dr. Sarah Hurd. Dr. Hurd is the host of A Time in the Word with Sarah Hurd and has been nominated for Best Gospel Broadcast Personality by Reggie Gay of The Reggie Gay Gospel Show.
Over the years one thing I can say of Dr. Hurd, she is a Trailblazer!
The following article was originally written in December, 1996 but I have updated it for such a time as this.
Dr. Hurd you have made a huge impact in my life and in the lives of others. Your love for others has shown through. You are truly God’s workmanship. Prepare yourself for everything God has for you in the United States and abroad. Who you are, no one can copy. You are blazing the trail for others to follow. You dare to be different.
Ephesians 2:10 (NIV) says “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, WHICH GOD PREPARED IN ADVANCE FOR US TO DO” The trail has been set. Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV) says “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age”.
In one sense, blazing the trail is making the way for others to follow. A blaze is a fire. The way should be so bright that others would not have any difficulties following. Blazing the trail means you have taken the lead. After you complete your mission, the way will be set for others to follow.
In another sense, the work has been prepared, the way has been made. Jesus Christ is the Trailblazer. Since God prepared the work in advance for us to do, the only thing that is left is for us to spread the news or make known publicly the works of Jesus Christ.
God’s vision includes helping others. He has made the way for you to follow so others can follow you. Why would Jesus tell us to Go and make disciples if he did not want others to follow?
Sarah I have always known you to be that sparkle which brings a smile to everyone you meet. I am so thankful to God that you are in my life. You have supported me with the vision God has given to me. How can I not support you? Your love for people is so genuine. God has truly graced you with His love and in turn you have shown it to others.
Although the following prophetic words are from Nikao News January 2003 they could just as well be for today, for such a time as this!
You might not have understood a lot of things God told you to do and you might have turned your face and ignored what God told you to do but listen up. God is getting ready to remove the barriers, which have been placed around you in order for you to walk into what He has told you to do.
God says not to fear because He has placed you on the path to your destiny. If you choose to stay on this path you will enter into what He has called you to do. The decision is yours.
As I write this, God is showing me an ocean with huge waves. The barriers, which were around you, have prevented you from receiving the overflow of God’s love. The huge waves represent His love for you. They represent His power in your life.
God says prepare for the overflow!
God says prepare for all He has for you!
Your destiny is up to you. Stay on the path He has placed you on. You must be aggressive in what He has called you to.
Allow God to use you. The gifts He gave to you are still there. Begin to open up and use them.
Step into your destiny!
Congratulations on your nomination!
Be outrageously blessed.
